Riverside Heart & Vascular Institute Welcomes Cardiothoracic Surgeon Arshad Yousuf, MD

Dr. Yousuf Sees Riverside Heart & Vascular Institute Patients

KANKAKEE, IL (June 30, 2017) - Riverside Heart & Vascular Institute is pleased to welcome University of Chicago Medicine Care Network cardiothoracic surgeon Arshad Yousuf, MD. Dr. Yousuf will be seeing patients at Riverside Heart & Vascular Institute and performing surgeries full-time at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee. 

The announcement comes as part of UChicago Medicine's ongoing relationship with Riverside Healthcare, which started in spring 2016 with a pediatric partnership.

"I am hopeful that my vast experience in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery will expand the surgical capabilities of Riverside and give the citizens of this region a high-quality, local option for their vascular care," he states. 

Dr. Yousuf is board certified in cardiothoracic surgery and general surgery and brings with him more than two decades of experience in treating numerous disorders and diseases of the heart and circulatory system. He has authored 17 peer-reviewed medical publications.

Dr. Yousuf received his Doctor of Medicine from Dow Medical College at the University of Karachi in Pakistan. After completing two surgical residencies in the United Kingdom, he then completed a general surgery residency at North Oakland Medical Center in Pontiac, MI and another at the Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center in Bronx, NY. He then went on to complete a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Newark, NJ.

Dr. Yousuf works alongside cardiothoracic surgery specialists Jennifer Dole, APN of Riverside Heart & Vascular Institute and Yumi Choung, PA of UChicago Medicine.
